What distribution means
Press-release distribution to participating online outlets, including news websites, which may include network-affiliate websites. Specific placements depend on the distribution package and publisher acceptance. This service does not include independent editorial coverage.
Distribution is carried out by our established distribution partners. The networks, outlets, geography (United States, with Canada available on request), exclusions, turnaround and reporting that apply to your order are recorded with your order.
Published, or your announcement fee back. If your approved press release isn't published on news sites, we refund the announcement portion of your package in full.
Syndication is not editorial coverage
Many news websites, including some affiliated with national broadcast networks, publish press releases from distribution services in dedicated sections. Those pages are paid or syndicated content. They are not stories written by the outlet's journalists, and they do not mean the outlet endorses you.
Independent editorial coverage happens when a journalist or publication chooses to report on you. It cannot be bought or guaranteed, and we report it separately only when we verify it.
How we report
Your final report lists the actual URLs where your release appeared, their status, and the date we checked each one. We use these statuses:
- Submitted: Your approved release was sent for distribution. No placement is claimed yet.
- Accepted for distribution: Distribution was confirmed. Publisher pickup may still be pending.
- Syndicated placement verified: We checked a live URL where the release, or a paid or syndicated page, appeared, and recorded the date.
- Earned editorial coverage: An independent journalist or publication reported on you, verified separately. Never inferred from syndication.
- Unavailable or removed: A link is missing or no longer live. We report it honestly and follow up on your behalf.
Your “As Featured On” badges
After your placement report, we give you “As Featured On” badges for your website (within 2 business days of your placement report). “As Featured On” badges list only outlets where we verified your release was published. Placements are press-release publications, not independent editorial coverage, and network names refer to affiliate news websites.
- Badges list outlet names as text. We add an outlet's logo only where we have confirmed it may be used — network logos are trademarks.
- Your badge files come with a short line you can place beneath them, for example “Our launch announcement was published on these news sites.”
- If a placement is later removed, we tell you so you can update your badge.
This approach follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance that paid or promotional content should be clearly distinguished from independent editorial content, and Canada's Competition Act rules against misleading representations. Please seek your own legal advice about your marketing claims.
What we never do
- Submit a release without your separate approval of that exact version.
- Promise publication on a specific outlet, or any independent editorial coverage.
- Put an outlet on your badge unless we verified your release was published there.
- Report a placement we have not verified, or describe a syndicated page as news coverage.
